SKLC Alumni
 
Students who graduate from Saraswathi Kendra are automatically invited to join the SKLC Alumni. There is no joining fee at all. Our Alumni mostly includes sports professionals, and achievers in the field of performing arts, music, dance, drama, cinema, business, hospitality and catering. Saraswathi Kendra has also churned out successful entrepreneurs.

Some of the SKLC Alumni students attended the Annual Sports Day held at Rajarathnam stadium (Egmore) on September 6, 2019.

rohit_ravindra Rohit Ravindra

Rohit Ravindra joined Saraswathi Kendra in 2003 and passed out of the institution in 2005 upon completing his higher secondary education in SKLC.

His achievements in rowing till date are as given below:

  • He was a 3 time Sub-Junior National Champion (under16).
  • He represented India at the Asian Junior Rowing Championships in Seoul, South Korea in 2005.
  • He won the inter-university championship for Madras University in the Single Scull event in 2005 and was a bronze medalist in 2006 and 2007 respectively.
  • He won several medals and trophies for the Madras Boat Club.
  • In the Madras-Colombo Regattas, he won 3 challenge fours, 3 coxless pairs and, was a one time challenge scull winner.
  • He represented the City of Sheffield Rowing Club and Sheffield Hallam University at several regattas in the UK during 2009-2010.
 
sidesh_nair A. Sidesh Nair

A. Sidesh Nair was a student of Saraswathi Kendra Learning Centre from 2011-2015. He passed out of SKLC in 2015 and is today a full fledged rower.

His sister Nandika Nair passed out of Saraswathi Kendra in 2010.

He represented SKLC at the Inter-school regatta held at Dubai in 2013. He was the first student to represent SKLC at this regatta, which had schools from all over Asia. Sidesh reached the semi-finals of the U-19 single sculls event at this regatta. It was a superb performance by Sidesh Nair, as he had taken to sculling only a month prior to the regatta, and he did well to row in difficult rowing conditions.

He represented the Madras Boat Club at the Madras Boat Club-Calcutta Rowing Club regatta in 2015, in the double scull's event, and was placed first.

He represented Madras Boat Club as Cox of the Master's crew at the 74th ARAE- FEARE Regatta, held at Pune in 2016, and was placed second.

He represented Madras University at the All India Inter-University Championship, in the Double Scull's event, held at Hyderabad in 2016. He was a semi-finalist at the regatta.

He represented Madras Boat club in the B-Scull's event, at the 77th Madras-Colombo regatta held at Colombo in 2016.

He represented Madras Boat Club in the Coxed Fours event at the 75th ARAE - FEARE Regatta, held at Chennai in January 2017.

 
ganesh_vishwanathan Maharajapuram S. Ganesh Viswanathan

Maharajapuram S. Ganesh Viswanathan studied in Saraswathi Kendra from 2002 to 2005.

Achievements
  • Participated in numerous competitions and won prizes. To name a few – 1st prize in the music competitions held by Sri Thyaga Brahma Gana Sabha, Indian Fine Arts. Raga Tharangini, YACM etc.
  • Participated in various talk shows in TV and Debate contests. Won the third prize in the Inter- College Debate Contest held in Ethiraj College’s Athena Fest 2006-07.
  • He was selected by the TAMILNADU GOVERNMENT (TAMIL NADU IYAL ISAI NATAKAMANDRAM) IN 2004 under the junior talent promotion scheme.
  • Has sung a play back track for K.Balachander’s Jannal-a teleserial in 1999.
  • Has hosted Radio shows as a Radio Jockey featuring Carnatic Music Recitals in Hello FM (106.4) in January 2009 which received rave reviews from the press and media.
  • Has been invited by Silver Lining Academy to conduct workshops on Audio Engineering and Music Production Technology.
  • Has produced music promos for various radio networks like All india radio FM, Hello FM and television Channels like Chithiram TV ( Kalaignar Television Network).
  • Has created the entire course curriculum and content for the basic and advanced Recording Arts essential courses for Indian musicians and performers for the Shankar Mahadevan Online Academy of Music.
  • He is the Mentor and chief tutor of the Recording Arts department aimed to train musicians and music students on technical sound reinforcement technologies making them technically well versed performers and artistes in both live and studio environments.
  • Nurtures them to develop a scientific temperament over the devices that power various forms of their performances.
  • Currently he is also tutoring Post graduate students of various nationalities in Practical techniques of Radio Journalism (On Air & Recorded Program Production) at the Department of Journalism and Communication, University of Madras, Chepauk Campus
 
ganesh_vishwanathan Madhumitha Harichandra

Madhumitha Harichandra studied in Saraswathi Kendra for 4 years. She joined in 2008 and passed out of SKLC in 2012. She is a tennis champion and is currently looking after her family business. On August 7, 2015 when Saraswathi Kendra conducted her Annual Sports Day she was our Chief Guest.

Achievements
  • College Tennis Team Captain for the year 2014.
  • Winners of CM Trophy tournament and represented Madras University in the year 2014.
  • Winners and runner up in many college level tournaments.
  • Won Gold and Silver medals for athletics at college level.
  • Semi-finalist and quarter-finalist in many All India Tennis ranking tournaments.
  • Saraswathi Kendra Pupil Leader in 2011.
  • Saraswathi Kendra Sports Captain in 2010.

All India - Top 70 (U-14) , Top 100(U-18) in the year 2008.

  • State level U-14 Title winner and all India Doubles winner and Runner up in the year 2008 & 2007.
  • State ranking in Tennis – Top 3 (U-14) Top 5(U-16 & U-18)
  • Worked as a Tennis Coach in TEAM TENNIS SOUTH for one year in 2016.
  • Conducts Tennis summer camp every year in Besant Nagar Club and Indra Nagar club.
  • 3 consecutive years won “Best Sportswomanship” award from 2009-2011.
